DIFFERENT TYPES OF ODDS:

There are four main types of odds used for betting purposes on this site.
a)

Fractional Odds : This is the ratio of winnings to stake that you will receive if your selection is successful.

This can be clearly explained with the use of an example:

Paul = 1 to 6 (1/6)    John = 8 to 1 (8/1)

In order to win £1 on Paul, you need to stake £6.
Thus, if Paul wins, your return would be £7 (the £6 you staked plus the £1 you won).

In order to win £8 on John, you need to stake £1.
Thus, if John wins your return would be £9 (the £1 you staked plus the £8 you won).

b)

Multiplier/Decimals : This type of odds is very easy to understand and use. We can illustrate this with an example:

Manchester United  =   2.20

Draw (Tie)               =   1.90

Liverpool                =   1.50

If you had placed a bet of £100 on Manchester United, and that team won, your total winnings including your stake would be £220 (the return is deduced by multiplying your stake with the odds listed).

If you had placed a bet of £100 on the Draw, and that was the result, your total winnings including your stake would be £190.

 If you had placed a bet of £100 on Liverpool, and that team won, your total winnings including your stake would be £150.

c)

Money Line : This is the most common type of odds used in American sports.

It is very easily explained with the use an example:

The Denver Broncos   =           +130

The Miami Dolphins    =               -145

The plus (+) figure denotes the underdog and the amount you can win when you bet £100.

The minus (-) figure denotes the favourite and the amount you need to stake in order to win £100.

Therefore, based on the above example, if you placed a bet on The Denver Broncos, you can win £130 for every £100 staked.

On the other hand, if you placed a bet on The Miami Dolphins, you will have to stake £145 in order to win £100.

d)

Pointspreads : This type of odds is also known as the 'spread', 'the line' or Handicap Betting.

It is used as a margin to handicap the favourite team by giving points to the underdog team for betting purposes only.

By using an example, we can illustrate how to read Pointspreads:

The Chicago Bulls     =      +6.5     -110

The London Towers  =      -6.5      -110

If you were betting on The Chicago Bulls, it would be understood that you have an extra 6.5 points added to the final score on the 'Bulls'. Therefore, even if The London Towers won the game by 6 points, you would still win the bet because of the 6.5 points handicap added to the 'Bulls'.

Note that you would win £100 for every £110 staked.

Furthermore, if you were betting on The London Towers, it would be understood that you were giving away 6.5 points as handicap. Thus, The London Towers must win the game by at least 7 points in order for you to win the bet.

Note that you would win £100 for every £110 staked.

Please Note: For accuracy of settlement, all winnings are calculated on the basis of our decimal odds. Fractional odds are only approximated representations of these odds.
